Latest trends – September 2021

Thank you for signing up with Blue Aster. Here at Blue Aster we bring you the latest trends in weddings and formal events. Our artisans are based in India and we support their lifestyles. We present handcrafted designs, and a variety of different fabrics from different regions of India.

India is known for different weaves, fabrics and embroidery. Silk is a luxury item and 97% of silk is from South India. Yet, the most expensive silk, Muga Silk comes from the north eastern part of India.  It is one of the rarest silks produced in the world, and was mostly used by Royals.  The other common silks that we use are raw silk, cotton silk, shamo silk, chanderi silk and organza just to name a few, but the list goes on. We are a bespoke firm and will be able to help you in choosing the best fabric and embroidery for your special day.

With the minimalist wedding trend due to the pandemic, Bridal Couture has taken a different turn. Brides are now wanting to have a more colorful and heavily embellished look than before.  The trends in fall 2021 are double dupattas or stoles with heavily handcrafted embroidery and usually one of it is matching with the Groom’s stole. Lightweight embroidery in pastels can still be the outfit that you’ve always dreamt of and it allows you to move around more freely. The ever so gracious saree has got a new look, with flowing sleeves and a belt to emphasize the tiny waist, showing the midriff and a blouse which can be intricately embroidered. Light gold lehngas are preferred at an after or before party to give a new look before or after the traditional ceremony. Nowadays pearls and semiprecious stones are incorporated into the embroidery, which is also called Zardozi. You can accentuate any piece of your ensemble with Zardozi.

The other colors are sombre tones, namely emerald green and cerise. Organza skirts with a heavy blouse are more for outdoor weddings. A bridal cape is also a good idea instead of the stoles. If you want to stay traditional, a lacy scalloped dupatta is a good twist. Finally the mixing of two different regions of India will make your ensemble more unique. Geometric and chevron stripes are also very much in vogue now.
